Linux Systems Administration I (LiSA 1)

The Linux Systems Administration I course is designed for professional ICT practitioners who wish to gain fundamental knowledge on installing, configuring, and trouble shooting Linux systems. The participants will also learn to integrate Linux systems and its network services into heterogeneous network infrastructures. After the course, the participants are expected to have the basic capabilities of junior systems administrators.

Linux Distribution:


CentOS: a distribution derived from source files published for Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).  This will be the primary distribution that will be used in the training.

Debian: a reliable Linux distribution developed by a community of volunteers.  It is used as the base for popular Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Xandros, Mepis, and others.  Debian will be the secondary distribution that will be referenced in the training.

Learning/ Teaching Strategy:

Experiential and problem based methodologies will be used to enhance the teaching and learning of the course. Lectures will be related to real life scenarios and participants will be given problem sets to work on during laboratory time. Each participant will be provided their own computer to use during the training.


Instructors:


Holden M. Hao
Mr. Holden Hao completed his post graduate diploma in ICT in Education from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. He is a certified Linux Professional, and has been an active member and/or officer in various ICT organizations.  He is the founding president of DabaweGNU, Inc. and President of Afterfive Technologies.


Participants:

20 Students Maximum
5 Students Minimum


Prerequisites:


Participants must have prior experience in administering small networks.
